Heat Sensitive Wallpaper

Shi Yuan has created a way to turn normally passive things into something with a life of its own. Like this wallpaper that reacts to heat, the painting that react when you touch it, or the daily calendar that fades away during the day. It's made using heat sensitive paint.

Turn up the heat and your wallpaper starts to blossom.

I know, I know this may be old news to some of you. But I was recently asked to work on some wallpaper design commissions and I've been doing a lot of research for it and this is very inspiring!

Anyway, enjoy!  See the calendar fade?

Keratin Rejuvenation Treatment with Denis De Souza at Andy LeCompte

May 17, 2011

Keratin 1

I had a major hair tragedy two weeks ago.  I was invited to get a fancy pants haircut at a new uber chic salon, and let's just say that one thing led to another, and I was given a Brazilian Blowout that burnt my hair. As in Fried.  Fucked.  Done.

Anyway, I immediately took what was left of my hair and ran to my hair worship goddess Liz Devin at Andy LeCompte Salon.  Not only is she a Brazilian Blowout expert but she has been giving me the most sexy, soft, elegant, sexy (did I say that?!) haircuts for the past few years.  The only two times I farmed myself out to try another stylist for Groomed LA (only… I would never let any one else touch it if it weren't for journalistic reasons!) – I was back in Liz's chair the next day for her to fix it.

And now, here I was, my once long and sexy waves now looking like Joan Jet.  Liz took my fried asymmetrical tresses in her fingers and said, it's burnt.  She tried to save what was left by trimming off the parts that looked like electrocuted and did the best to shape my stiff fried helmet.  "This ones gonna take a long time to go out.  Sorry.  And your hair was looking gorgeous!"  The tears turned to fury.  "How long?" I pleaded.  "A long time" is all she said, and she traipsed off in a puff of gorgousness and 9 feet long legginess.  She soon returned with Denis.  "Denis will fix it. You need a Rejuvenating Keratin Treatment. Stat. It's what I make people do if their hair is too damaged for a Brazilian.  And buy a silk pillowcase. " Pencil me in. ASAP!

I kept my hair in an oily ponytail all week until I could get in to see Denis DeSouza, drenching it in serum to keep it from breaking. Turns out that's a huge mistake.  Denis said no, no, no! Silicone in the serums dry it out even more!

Thank GOD for Denis (his main thing is as colorist there) – and his amazing treatment that SAVED MY HAIR!!  My burnt hair is now soft again and manageable. It doesn't look dead. It's come to life. The treatment uses 8 bottles of Keratin and Collagen (4 each) They are sprayed, in turns,  onto the hair, and worked deep into the layers of the hair with a lo-set flat iron.

This treatment is perfection for someone who's hair goes through a lot of processing, coloring, sun, a burnt Brazilian, or hair that is just super dry and needs major repair.

Here are some more deets:

THINK: Locked-in hair repair.

WHAT IT IS: A replenishing, rejuvenating new treatment for distressed tresses.

WHAT IT DOES: Restores Keratin, one of the building blocks of hair, to worn-out locks. Hair is composed of overlapping layers of cuticles that progressively deteriorate with continued exposure to harsh ingredients. When hair is exposed to any chemical—from straightening formulas to coloring systems—the cuticle is the most vulnerable. A damaged cuticle compromises hair’s natural barrier: it lets out vital nutrients and invites in dryness and split ends. When hair lacks elasticity and strength, Keratin can be added to repair damaged areas and rebuild internal structures.

HOW IT DOES IT: Denis De Souza’s state-of-the-art Keratin Rejuvenation Treatment applications come in three different molecular weights, each a special building block of the hair:

CMC—When hair becomes weakened and dehydrated, it loses CMC, an oil-based ingredient in the hair. Adding CMC enables dehydrated and distressed hair to retain moisture and lock in the necessary Keratin.

Collagen—In the same way it adds strength and elasticity to skin cells, Collagen pumps up hair by creating a veil on the cuticle’s surface that locks in moisture, adds softness, and deters frizz.

Silk Proteins and Aloe Extract—These gentle ingredients join Collagen in forming an even veil of protection on the hair’s cuticle, adding shine and resistance. Silk Proteins and Aloe Extract also protect the hair from daily stresses like thermal styling, UV light and brush friction.

THE PROCESS: The luxurious deep conditioning treatment provides immediate long-lasting results. In just 30-45 minutes (depending on hair length), the Keratin Rejuvenation Treatment strengthens the hair at the cortex, fosters softer hair, and seals in moisture to retain all the beneficial effects of the Keratin System.

You lock in the results with an at home take-home supply kit, extending the effects of the treatment until the next salon visit.

WHO HAS HAD IT (and loved it): Charlize Theron, Michelle Monaghan, Kelly Preston, Kate Walsh to name a few…

WHERE TO FIND IT:  With Denis de Souza, exclusively at the Andy Lecompte Salon in Los Angeles.  Please call 310.273.4100 for an appointment
